LOCATION: Kansas City, MO

                              Topeka, KS

PAY RANGE: $17.00 - $22.00 

 

Full-Time Internship Position for Summer 2025

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Intern Description:

Position will report to the Manager, Financial Accounting. This position will primarily be responsible for working with the Financial Accounting and/or Benefits Accounting teams to support a variety of accounting functions. 

 

Job tasks include but not limited to:

  • Preparation of monthly financials statements such as income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows for regulated transmission utility.
  • Support monthly and quarterly accounting close process by preparing a variety of journal entries and account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Preparation of various Federal Energy Regulated Commission (FERC) pages to support the 3-Q filings.
  • Special projects will be assigned based on individual skillset, desires and organizational needs and could include cross-departmental assignments with Benefits Accounting including but not limited to 401K audit support, benefit plan accounting, etc.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program with a major in Accounting preferably at either the Senior undergraduate or Master post-graduate level.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and proofreading skills.  
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve accounting problems.
  • Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel. 
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and databases preferred.  
  • Maintain effective internal controls by developing and following procedures, , and maintaining adequate supporting documentation and audit trails for all aspects of responsibilities.
