Summer '25 Associate (MBA) -Real Estate Development

 

SUMMARY

Welltower offers accomplished students the opportunity to intern in a dynamic work environment through its engaging summer programs. One of these programs is the Development internship, which enables students to play an important role in helping enable sustainable growth of the development pipeline. The program focuses on a core set of skills and business processes, allowing candidates to focus on their primary area of interest and best utilize their talents. 

The Development internship program provides students with the opportunity to directly interact with the senior management team, assume ownership of significant projects, and experience personal and professional growth and development, all within a culture that rewards ambition and drive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Our Development internship focuses on our Development responsibilities including feasibility & market analysis, benchmarking, research and underwriting. It allows interns to combine their analytical and communication skills across all facets of Development. Our ability to create, strengthen and manage external and internal relationships is the cornerstone of our success. Our relationship-based strategy is what makes us a leader in our industry.

The Development team is responsible for:

  • Working diligently with the Investments team to analyze development opportunities at Pre-Acquisition
  • Overseeing each step of active deals through Turnover
  • Managing and Maintaining Internal and External Partnerships
  • Benchmarking key information for comparing future deals
  • Underwriting development opportunities
  • Taking ownership of the development budget
  • Standardizing to align how information is provided by partners
  • Analyzing partner performance
  • Conducting site/land visits and market assessments
  • Selecting Contractors and Consultants
  • Educating Investment team members on the development process
  • Understanding market supply and demand fundamentals

TRAVEL

Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Must be currently enrolled in a MBA program.  

Experience: Previous internship and/or work experience preferred.

Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
