Intern - Application Developer

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

 

JOB TITLE:            Intern – Application Developer

DEPARTMENT:      Real Time Systems – Topeka General Office

LOCATION:            Topeka, KS

PAY RANGE:          $20.00 - $24.00

                                                                                                

Intern Position for Full-Time Summer 2025.

 

Scheduled Work Hours:  Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Flexible working arrangements available.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Under direct supervision, participate in the team effort in the design, development, and testing of all components of application software solutions.   Obtain understanding of business function requirements translation into application software solutions to meet diverse and complex business opportunities.

  • Assist with the resolution of routine application issues, practicing troubleshooting, problem solving and time management in a team environment to gain experience.
  • Obtain knowledge of business requirements and testing objectives included in technical design for business solutions.
  • Gain understanding of task completion and setting project goals.
  • Assist in testing application software solutions, document defect resolution and prepare change control documentation using established standards.
  • Maintain application software and integration documentation to ensure alignment, security and performance of application software solutions.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

We are looking for third or fourth year students who are actively pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields. 

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:

  • The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of application development, business process and design principles, primarily through course work and/or practical experience.
  • Obtain knowledge of application software solutions, business and internal team functions and vendor support through training and collaboration with experienced team members. 
  • Assist in application development, monitoring and support to gain experience. 
  • Ability to use good judgment, attention to detail and persistence to contribute to incident investigation, root cause analysis, resolution documentation and lessons learned.
  • Become familiar with business goals, corporate and IT standards, strategy and service level agreement concepts.   
  • Establish cooperative relationships with members of technical teams, business support teams and end users with effective communication ability with both technical and business team members.
  • Team oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with local and or remote personnel at all levels across the organization to provide secure, reliable and effective solutions.
