GE Vernova R3777453 Lead Engineer – Materials Behavior / Informatics

The Informatics / Materials Behavior Lead Engineer will develop computational representations of critical material behaviors for use in optimization frameworks. They will execute test programs to build material data, and use existing data, field experience and test results to build gas turbine materials behavior models.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Define mechanical test scope to supplement existing data sets
  • Interpret mechanical test results, and define statistical model to represent the material behavior for use in gas turbine component finite element mechanical analysis
  • Materials modeling of thermodynamic processing of metal alloy production methods
  • Materials modeling of materials behaviors via finite element methods
  • Microscopic evaluation of metallurgical structures of tested material to enhance prediction capability
  • Application of Python based machine learning tasks: regressions, optimizations, visualizations

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years relevant experience, or Master’s or Ph.D degree in Engineering Materials, Metallurgical, Mechanical, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to access and handle US Export Controlled information

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of nickel or steel alloys and their strengthening / deformation mechanisms
  • Familiarity with modeling of mechanical and physical properties of these materials.
  • Familiarity with mechanical testing such as tensile, fatigue, and creep
  • Familiarity with finite element methods
  • Experience with computational materials science, and tools such as Calphad, Crystal Plasticity, Density Functional Theory
  • Experience with high throughput test methods
  • Experience with machine learning techniques using Python and Multi-objective optimization
  • Knowledge of statistical characterization methods such as Gaussian and Bayesian distributions
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
  • Effective at working independently on complex tasks and managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a high performance, cross-functional team to drive impactful results
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members and support tasks.
  • Experience and familiarity with common software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

 

The base pay range for this position is  85,600.00 - 142,600.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% bonus.
