Market Analysis Intern

Position Specific Description

The Market Analysis team is responsible for providing company leadership with comprehensive assessments of North American energy market economics. The team supports tens of billions of dollars of investment decisions in solar, wind, battery storage and hydrogen annually. Company leadership looks to this group for analysis from power plant economics to long term grid evolution. We are a data-driven team that believes in continuous improvement and collaboration and we are always looking to develop better tools, processes, and modeling approaches through learning and knowledge sharing. We are looking for someone who enjoys a challenge, works well in a collaborative team environment, and revels in seeking answers through data analytics. 

 

The Market Analysis is team is seeking intern candidates to support long-term fundamental forecasts of the dynamic US power market. Responsibilities will include supporting the development and improvement of proprietary forecasting tools and supporting the team in long-term forecast and cost benefit analyses. Candidates must have a strong grasp of economic principles. Familiarity with power market fundamentals is preferred.

  • Working towards a bachelor's or master’s degree in in a quantitative field, such as Economics, Engineering and Environmental Science 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)

  • Effective Verbal Communications
  • Sophisticated user of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Python and R 

 

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects
  • Completes challenging projects and assignments
  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school grad / GED
  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
