Description

Summary/Objective: Under the direction of a Nurse Manager, the Nurse is responsible and accountable for the delivery of professional care to the SCN residents of the Nazareth Campus.

Essential Functions:

  • Administer and provide direct nursing care to the Campus residents.
  • Assess, analyze, plan, implement and evaluate health services provided by the Campus Health Office.
  • Perform routine administration of medications as ordered by a healthcare provider in accordance with the established policies/procedures, in conformance with recognized standards.
  • Coordinate health care plans of individual residents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records.
  • Develop and coordinate health education programs.
  • Identify needed and available resources to meet current and changing healthcare needs.
  • Serve as a patient advocate as it relates to SCNs needs.
  • Direct and coordinate care with all the nursing staff.
  • Follow established protocols for universal precautions and infection control.
  • Assist with orientation and training of Campus Health Office staff as assigned.
  • Assess resident's health status on an emergency and on-going nature.
  • Document and communicate with other healthcare professionals as it relates to resident care.
  • Maintain current license and continuing education requirements.
  • Promote and work with nursing staff to create a friendly working environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience: Associate Degree in Nursing or BSN from accredited college or university and five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Professional experience with geriatric population preferred. Must complete annual education requirements necessary to maintain license. Must be willing to work on all shifts as needs change and may be requested to work beyond the normal shift in case of emergency.

Licenses/Certificates: Current, active and unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in Kentucky is required or current, active license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Kentucky and CPR certification is required. Failure to renew License before certificate expiration could result in termination of employment.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and/or stand; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; push, pull, bend, talk, see and hear.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, taste and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds. The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment as established in company policies and protocols. This may include gloves, face masks or respirators, face shields, goggles, gowns and potentially other protective equipment.

Fit Testing Requirement:

  • Employees who are in contact with a Sister with suspected or confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection should use a NIOSH-approved particulate respirator with N95 filters or higher, gown, gloves, and eye protection (i.e., goggles or a face shield that covers the front and sides of the face).
  • Employees who are required to utilize an N95 respirator will receive a medical evaluation for respirator use, fit testing, and training.

Work Environment: This job operates in a non-skilled environment. The noise level is usually quiet.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 12 hour shifts from 6:00pm-6:00am on varying days. Must be willing to work on all shifts if needed and may be requested to work beyond normal shift in case of emergency. Weekends and holidays are required.

Travel: Travel is not required.
