Civil Design Engineering Intern

Meshek & Associates, LLC is seeking a full-time Engineering Intern to serve in our Tulsa, Oklahoma office. The successful candidate possesses basic knowledge and develops basic civil engineering skills. The Engineering Intern applies prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks. They will perform routine technical work which does not require previous experience and will acquire an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
The Engineering Intern will be expected to:
- Assist on tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, drawings, and computer-aided design (CAD) work.
- Complete general fieldwork as necessary to assess site conditions and determine survey requirements for new projects, as well as construction inspection.
- Assist in the application of civil engineering design services including municipal, County, and ODOT roadway, commercial site development, and stormwater modeling and design projects.
- Prepare drafts of construction plans to clearly illustrate the project for the contractor, resident engineer, and others involved in the project.
- Develop plans and estimate costs for installation of systems, utilization of facilities, or construction of structures.
- Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Analyze proposed site factors and design plans, graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findings.
- Read and review project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements.
- Estimate costs, assist in preparing proposals as well as establishing completion dates.
- Assist with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for projects.
- Mentor junior staff and assist in the training of new employees in standard practices and procedures.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.Tech) in civil engineering
- Licensing: EI License working towards taking PE exam
- Experience: 0+ years
- Strong sense of personal initiative and willingness to meet client expectations.
- Software: Web browsers; Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Storm CAD, and MicroStation.
- Additional Skills: Drafting knowledge, oral and written communication skills, planning, teamwork, decision-making, judgment, problem-solving, and ability to coordinate with other members of a project team.
Compensation
- $65,000-$70,000 annually
