2025 Summer Internship (U.S.) - Nuclear Engineering Intern
Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a summer intern. Locations will vary based on project needs and may include Houston, TX, Reston, VA, or various project sites.
Nuclear Engineering interns work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide support to the research and development of the processes, instruments, and systems used to derive benefits from nuclear energy and radiation.
Nuclear Engineering interns may be responsible for:
- Developing the calculations associated with nuclear facilities.
- Understanding the regulatory requirements and processes for nuclear facilities.
- Coordinating the development and presentation of materials for meetings with regulators.
- Providing direct support to other engineering disciplines for nuclear related matters.
- Preparing calculations to determine radiation protection requirements.
- Analyzing facility hazards and developing the system safety basis.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Nuclear Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in the above field.
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Nuclear Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
