2025 Summer Internship (U.S.) - Process Engineering Intern
Bechtel’s internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a summer intern. Locations will vary based on project needs and may include Houston, TX, Reston, VA, or various project sites.
Process Engineering interns work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide support to the design of large-scale chemical manufacturing facilities and related processes.
Process Engineering interns may be responsible for:
- Determining the sequence of operations and the selection of equipment and operating conditions required to convert a feedstock into products.
- Generating Process Flow Diagrams, Heat and Material Balances, and Process Datasheets.
- Designing the Relief System.
- Supporting disciplines to ensure that process design intent is maintained throughout the work of the downstream design disciplines.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields.
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
