Civil Engineering Intern

We are looking for a Civil Engineering Intern to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will be based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role.

 

Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the development of engineering plans, specifications and reports for new fuel cell installation projects, including using computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop civil engineering drawings.
  • Assist in the performance of field and office assignments, which may include data collection and analysis, reviewing building codes, zoning ordinances, and other regulations, and report and calculation preparation.
  • Attend project meetings, as directed, to observe and learn about civil engineering principles at work.
  • Help prepare quantity take-offs for construction projects.
  • Observe construction sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations and engineering plans.
  • Researching new construction materials and methods in order to recommend improvements to existing designs.
  • Prepare draft reports and presentations based on your observations and research.
  • Support template updates to improve accuracy for future projects.
  • Participate in peer-to-peer design reviews and provide critical feedback to colleagues.

 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Basic understanding of civil engineering design principles.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for 2-D drawings and Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Undergraduate Junior or Senior working toward a B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Professional & collaborative, comfortable working closely with a team.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter.
