Summer Associate Internship (Savings & Membership - Projects & Process Improvement Analyst)

Team Overview:

We are Membership Projects and Process Improvement, which falls under the Savings and Membership Department. The Membership Division seeks to ensure that every potential member sees Navy Federal as their preferred financial institution. Our Projects and Process Improvement team is dedicated to driving efficiency and innovation for members, prospective members, and our back-office specialists. By leveraging data-driven methodologies, we streamline operations, enhance decision-making, and unlock new opportunities for growth. We are passionate about transforming challenges into solutions, ensuring that every process is optimized and ever decision is informed by accurate, actionable data.

We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated individual with a passion for process improvement and data analytics. Candidates must reflect Navy Federal's commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, while leveraging data to drive decisions and enhance processes across our business units. The selected candidate will join our team and be part of a dynamic environment where their skills and ideas will make an impact.

Potential Projects:

The summer associate will assist in revamping and optimizing Survivor Support’s Case Management System (S3), which is used to settle deceased member accounts. S3 is operationally disjointed and inefficient, resulting in suboptimal satisfaction for all parties. It requires multiple systems/applications to manage a case lifecycle, lacks the multichannel experience with self-service capabilities for survivors, and hinders Navy Federal’s ability to scale its omnichannel experience strategy.

In this role, the Summer Associate would be:

  • Working with the Business Unit to identify any existing pain-points and bottlenecks.
  • Reviewing current workflow for possible improvements.
  • Evaluating proposed improvements against industry best practices.
  • Gathering data to support suggested improvements.
  • Creating decks detailing suggestions and cost/benefit analysis to leadership.

     

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business processes and identify areas of improvement.
  • Develop and implement data driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collect, interpret, and visualize data to support decision making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvement initiatives.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collectively in a team environment.
  • High level of energy, motivation, and a proactive attitude.
