Summer Associate Internship (Lending Strategy and Innovation)

Team Overview: The Lending Strategy team enables the Lending department to build strategies to enhance member experience, drive innovation, improve risk management and effectively leverage digital transformation capabilities.

Potential Projects:

  • Credit Card Strategy Refresh
  • Consumer Lending Strategy Refresh
  • Enhance membership engagement experience.
  • Reimagine the collections experience for NFCU counselors and members.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide research and data analytics support and strategy planning to business partners to help in their decision-making process to solve business issues, meet project objectives and/or strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and management to provide research expertise to support their product and business initiatives.
  • Write research proposals, reviews, explains research and data strategy required to meet project and business objectives.
  • Recommend and uses appropriate quantitative or qualitative techniques to meet basic research objectives.
  • Develop basic analysis plan and as necessary, oversees applications of advanced analytics.
  • Communicate and summarize research and data analysis results for business partners and interpret results into actionable insights or business plans that will support their decision-making objectives.
  • Research, analyze and summarize study results and identifies if the strategy used was appropriate and met business objectives.
  • Identify and review key findings from basic research and applies most appropriate/effective presentation method to communicate results to a variety of audiences e.g. staff, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and management of reporting, dashboards, data models and analytical results.
  • Familiarity with various data structures and ability to extract data sources (e.g., PySpark, PowerBI)
  • Familiarity with the process in sourcing raw data and cleansing techniques
  • Familiarity with mapping techniques and data pipelines

 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous internship experience or project work in the fields listed above. Participation in clubs, competitions, or organizations that demonstrate interest in business, data, and innovation.
  • Experience with the steps in planning, fielding, analyzing, and presenting quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Working knowledge with various statistical, segmentation and analysis techniques for survey and database data.
  • Experience in using online tools such as survey tools, communities, social networks etc.
  • Effective skill to make clear, sound, and logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Effective organization skills, project management, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good research, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills of technical and non-technical material(s)
