CSX Accounting Internship - Summer 2025 (Paid)

Accounting Internship Summary: 

CSX is a Fortune 250 company seeking future business leaders to help foster growth, efficiency and innovation. Interns that are placed within the Accounting Organization will be assigned to one of the four core areas within accounting - Accounting & Reporting, Payroll & Labor Services, Revenue & Receivables, or Billing & Accounting Information Systems - for a 10 week immersion into CSX methods and culture. Individuals will complete challenging real-world assignments, working hand in hand with leaders across the company to improve decision-making and financial processes. The accounting internship provides an opportunity for candidates to experience what a role in accounting & reporting, payroll, revenue accounting, or  billing looks like, while allowing CSX to actively recruit tomorrow’s best talent. 

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and learn core areas of the accounting organization
  • Contribute to special projects that support field employees, technology initiatives, customer relationships, financial and liquidity objectives, as well as reporting and compliance
  • Engage in process improvement projects designed to improve best practices
  • Conduct accounting research and summarize results
  • Complete cross functional projects and miscellaneous activities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Management, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related major field of study from an accredited institution
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internship
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4-point scale)

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Academic distinction with accounting or finance interest/talent
  • Proven leadership ability and initiative
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to a senior level audience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
