Senior Grants and Contracts Accountant

JOB TITLE (#3014): Senior Grants and Contracts Accountant - Bronx, NY

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Federal, State and City grants budgeting and reporting

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a Senior Grants and Contracts Accountant to fill an opening with a Residential Facility (FQHC) located in Bronx, New York

Requirements of the Senior Grants and Contracts Accountant:

  • Must have a BS degree in Accounting or relevant degree.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in Federal, State and City grants budgeting and reporting
  • Must have experience with general ledger analysis and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures, federal, state and City Contracts policies and procedures.
  • Must be proficient in report generation from fund accounting software packages, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with FundEZ a plus.
  • Must have advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP’s, Pivot tables and IF functions.

Schedule of the Senior Grants and Contracts Accountant:

  • This is a Full-time position
  • Monday - Friday
  • 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Responsibilities of the Senior Grants and Contracts Accountant:

  • Coordinate the Accounting duties related to VIP -Better Haven Joint Venture with VIP Accounting Team.
  • Review and prepare the regular and special internal accounting/financial analysis and required reports by the funders/programs.
  • Develop a contract performance tracking report with budget to actual detail variance analysis and commentary.
  • Provide Program Directors with information monthly performance report with budget to actual detail variance analysis and commentary.
  • Prepare and monitor grant and contract cashflows.
  • Analyze monthly grant performance results to ensure expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.
  • Working with Program Managers, ensure accurate grant time tracking is maintained and reflected in the tracking system to ensure time allocations are accurately reflected in accounting records.
  • Prepare all documentation required for timely and accurate submission of all monthly, quarterly, and annual grant and contract billing reports, vouchers and invoices to funding sources including providing performance metrics, service units and expenditures.
  • Review and reconcile and process grants drawdowns.
  • Enter and maintain records of all program and administrative expenses by category, track expenditures, and report against budget projections.
  • Provide grantees with required support document as they are needed to comply with grant requirements.
  • Familiar with Grants portal- HHS Accelerator, Passport, Grants gateway, PMS, SMS etc.
  • Coordinate the development of grant budgets and monitoring budget vs actual grant expenses to determine if budget modifications are necessary.
  • Maintain contract files in accordance with funding agency standards
  • In consultation with the Director of Grants and Contracts, prepare and submit grant budget modifications, as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget, forecasts and variance analyses.
  • Prepare/review grant schedules, reconciliations, and close-out reports for month-end closing and analyzes GL accounts and Complete account reconciliations, process journal entries and entire month end close process.
  • Prepare and record monthly Grants revenue, accrual/ reversal. Track all Grants payments and post accordingly.
  • Prepare reconciliations and schedules for the annual audit.
  • Prepare reconciliations and schedules for the funder audit.
  • Manage critical elements of monthly closings.
