Teacher
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
Bachelor’s degree and valid Texas teaching certificate.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Plan, develop, and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s instructional program and show written evidence of preparations as required; prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student abilities and learning styles; linguistically accommodate instruction as appropriate for English language learners; coordinate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
2. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits; help improve the achievement of all students; conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing and provide remediation as appropriate to ensure student mastery; assume responsibility and sponsor extracurricular activities as appropriate.
3. Create a classroom environment conducive to active and successful student learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students; manage student behavior.
4. Establish and maintain effective open communication with students, parents, teachers, and administrators; participate in staff professional development activities.
5. Complete appropriate documentation for students participating in special programs as required by district, state and federal guidelines.
6. Follow Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and state/federal regulations.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Coach
Primary Purpose:
Provide instruction to student athletes; developing and enhancing athletic skills to successfully compete in athletic competitions.
Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
Bachelor’s degree and valid Texas teaching certificate. Knowledge of assigned sport (coaching or participant experience preferred). Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred.
Major Responsibilities:
Instruction
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
Program Management
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL rules and local policies.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Work with athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of athletic program and make changes based on findings.
- Work with the Athletic Director and high school athletic coordinators to support the program at all levels by fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned.
Student Management
- Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports at local and on out-of-town trips.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Drive bus for students and/or fans to and from athletic events. Maintain CDL and follow transportation procedures expected of the District transportation services. Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
Communication
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist in selection of equipment and instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within program.
- Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment.
