Position Overview
The Cyber Summer Associate Program is a ten-week internship in one area of Aon's Cyber Solutions, where we will immerse you in our proactive and reactive services. You will work on client projects and learn key skills in information security in one of the following fields:
- Digital Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR): The DFIR team works with organizations in response to cyberattacks or data breaches and works with legal counsel to assist with acquiring, processing, and analyzing digital evidence. DFIR CSAs will work in-person in one of our forensic labs in New York, Chicago, Washington DC, or Boston.
- Security Testing: The Testing team identifies security vulnerabilities by performing dynamic security assessments of web applications and live networks, simulating attacker scenarios such as phishing campaigns and red teams, and performing secure code reviews of client codebases. Security Testing CSAs will work in-person in our New York lab.
- Security Advisory: proactively assist an organization with maturing cybersecurity practices across cyber risk and compliance, cyber defense & transformation, investment and portfolio protection, and incident response planning. Security Advisory CSAs have the option to work remotely, hybrid, or in-person in one of our labs in New York and Chicago.

Position Details
This paid internship begins in June with a three-day orientation program. During this time, you will meet with firm leadership, participate in training exercises, network with colleagues, and join other special events.
Cyber Summer Associates work directly with our existing employees in one of our U.S. offices (with the option of remote work for Security Advisory interns). Immersed in our experienced client teams, you will contribute to a wide variety of client projects. You will learn how to use cutting-edge tools and technologies and attend regular training and demos to build technical and professional skills. Throughout the summer, you will complete a research project on an impactful topic relevant to your skillsets and interests and present it to the firm at the end of the program.
From the very beginning, you will be learning from managers and colleagues with robust technical and legal backgrounds, many of whom contributed directly to developing the foundations of the practice of cyber-focused industry. Cyber Summer Associates have both a mentor and supervisor to support their client work, professional development, and research projects.

Job Responsibilities
- Perform tasks related to technical consulting engagements involving digital forensics, incident response, security testing, or security advisory
- Support teams that are assessing clients’ risks related to internal IT infrastructure, publicly available IT assets and other relevant attack surfaces
- Become proficient with industry standard tools and practices
- Preserve and analyze data from laptop and desktop computers, servers, and mobile devices
- Design, develop, document, analyze, test and modify computer systems & programs
- Conduct statistical analysis of large data sets and other investigative components of cases
- Learn to present sophisticated technical matters and analysis clearly and concisely
- Help uncover causes of clients’ network intrusions/data breaches, and increase knowledge of malware
- Aid in the development of IT security risk metrics
- Research and pilot security software (commercial and open-source)
- Assist in developing proprietary tools and programs to aid in matters of forensic analysis, network incident response, or penetration testing
- Work alongside our practitioners and cybersecurity specialists
- Stay up-to-date with the current regulatory environment, industry trends and related implications
- Develop and broaden skills through training and research
- Contribute to and attend in-house training sessions
- Suggest and pursue firm-enhancing projects that draw on your skills and academic interests
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, Digital Forensics or another quant-focused major
- Knowledge of computer networking technologies
- Familiarity with computer system hardware and software
- Strong analytic, qualitative and quantitative reasoning skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills, plus attention to detail
- Solid understanding of MS Office, and familiarity with Windows, Macintosh, and/or Linux operating systems
- Creative problem solving and eagerness to learn and research new skills
- Exceptional work ethic, high level of professionalism and commitment to ethical standards
- Strong self-motivation and a positive mentality
Applicants for this role, which is part of the Aon Summer Internship Program, should be rising seniors, graduating between December 2025 – Spring 2026 and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
Preferred Experience
- Security Testing: Familiarity with configuring, identifying, testing, and remediating vulnerable services and security bugs, and other ethical hacking techniques; experience with cybersecurity related CTF challenges and platforms such as Hack The Box, Over The Wire, Hacker101, etc.
- Security Advisory: Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks, CMMC etc.
- DFIR: Investigative mindset, foundational knowledge of digital forensic artifacts or operating systems, and experience with any of the following: malware analysis; database operations and analysis; system administration; security tooling including EDR; cloud security and investigations; parsing and drawing conclusions from large data sets.
- Flexibility to collaborate or work independently and ability to grasp new concepts quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficiency with Python, Java, C#, C++, SQL, or assembly languages are a plus but programming skills are not required.
Aon Summer Internship Program

The goal of the Aon Summer Internship Program is to give students significant exposure to Aon through project deliverables, continuing education and a training curriculum. The program also provides students with an excellent opportunity to learn and prepare for post‐graduate career opportunities at Aon. Upon successful completion of the Aon Summer Internship Program, highly qualified interns may be offered post-graduation full‐time positions within the Launch Program, Aon’s Early Career Development Program.

The salary for this position is $30 per hour. The salary reflected is based on a primary work location of New York, NY. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.
