Entry-Level Civil Engineer - Water

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a bright and highly motivated Engineer for employment in our Water Business Line based out of our Bloomfield, NJ office. This is a project engineering position to assist and support flood resilience and stormwater study and civil design projects. The position will work with Project Managers on project Planning, Design, Procurement and Delivery. Field visits to project sites within the NY/ NJ Metro area will be required.

This position is expected to begin in May or June 2025.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, reports, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software to evaluate stormwater and riverine flood conditions.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
  • Collaborate and work with a diverse and progressive team.
  • Schedule and budget expectations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Agricultural or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in water resources.
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Bloomfield, NJ . The selected candidate must be available to work in Bloomfield, NJ on a scheduled basis.
  • Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $77,500.00 - $85,000.00.
