Psych Assessment Spec PT
I) Job Purpose
To provide appropriate and impartial assessments and endorsements with written documentation that determine current functioning and eligibility of individuals seeking Intellectual Developmental Disorders (IDD) services at MHMR in accordance with agency policies, operating procedures and applicable state and federal statutes and regulations.
II) Essential Functions
A) Conducts Determination of Intellectual Disability (DID) eligibility assessments for individuals seeking IDD services or guardianship.
B) Reviews previous assessments and available information to determine appropriate assessment techniques.
C) Reviews previous assessments and other available information to determine if there is need to complete a new assessment, whether previous test results can be validated and included in current assessment, or if a previous assessment is current and can be endorsed.
D) Conducts DID assessments and Endorsements as scheduled and completes required documentation including DID report, associated forms, cover letter, and progress notes. Documentation will be done within 21 days and no later than the 30-day HHSC deadline.
E) Submits all DID reports needing supervision for review within 21 business days and finalizes the report within two days after return for any edits.
F) Provide off site DID assessments as needed in hospitals, jails, nursing homes and community.
G) Meets program requirements and standards as set forth by leadership, including reporting and documenting extenuating circumstances to the supervisor.
H) Assists with HHSC requests and DID addendums.
I) Performs Determination of Intellectual Disability (DID) eligibility assessments based upon Intellectual Disability (ID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Related Condition (RC) including but not limited to administration of intellectual measure and adaptive skill measure, such as the Inventory for Client and Agency Planning (ICAP).
J) Provides coaching and ongoing support to other members of the program as requested.
K) Diagnoses conditions according to DSM-5 and understands ICD-10 codes.
L) Adheres to HHSC DID Best Practice Guidelines during assessments.
M) Participates in MHMR and community-based committees as assigned.
N) Attends IDD Eligibility Department meetings.
O) Provides testimony for the hearing officers and the courts regarding results of DID assessments and Endorsements conducted. Participates in hearings and appeals proceedings as needed.
P) Maintains standards for professional development and licensure as set by the Tx State Board of Examiners of Psychologist and other applicable credentialing bodies, completes required MHMR professional development as assigned, maintains required credentials for DID assessments, and completes MHMR Tarrant Relias trainings promptly.

R) Performs other job duties or responsibilities as requested or assigned.
III) Knowledge of Laws, Regulations, Policies/Procedures, Skills, and Abilities
A) Working knowledge of QAIS/Person Directed Planning, particularly in the areas of client rights, abuse, safety, and health.
B) MHMR policies and operating procedures
C) Complete/pass required MHMR training within 60 calendar days of hire.
D) Graduate-level training and practicum experience in individual psychological assessment
E) Ability to administer and interpret individual psychological test and measures, using standardized administration procedures.
F) State Board of Examiners of Psychological Rules of Practice
G) Knowledge of applicable Texas Administrative Codes and policies from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission
H) Knowledge of the most current version of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
IV) Internal & External Customer Service
A) This position requires extensive internal and external contacts with community resources and organizations, clients, families, auditors, etc. of diverse backgrounds.
V) Travel
A) Adhere to MHMR Mileage and Travel reimbursement policy and any other aspect regarding travel.
B) This position requires travel within Tarrant County weekly. Statewide travel may be required 1-2 times per year. Travel out of Tarrant County could be overnight.
