Healthcare Management Program Internship

The Healthcare Management Program is Northwell Health’s elite summer internship open to current undergraduate college students whose expected graduation date is between December 2025 and May 2026. Positions located in Long Island (Nassau County and Suffolk County), Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island & Westchester.

ABOUT THE HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (HMP):

  • The HMP internship is a 10-week paid program built to immerse our Summer Associates in all aspects of healthcare administration and operations in one of our participating hospitals, clinical service lines, departments or healthcare-related businesses.
  • Summer Associates are partnered with a hand-picked mentor to teach and guide them through their internship experience.

The HMP internship could be the first stepping stone in your career journey and can lead to many opportunities at Northwell including prime consideration for a full-time job in our Management Associate Program post graduation.

INTERNSHIP STRUCTURE

Following orientation, you will work with your carefully selected mentor on meaningful projects that positively impact our patients and communities. You will also experience:

  • Exposure & networking with executive leadership
  • Meaningful hands-on project work and assignments
  • Weekly didactic educational sessions
  • Attendance at top-level decision-making meetings
  • Team building activities
  • End of summer Alumni Networking Event where you can meet with executives and HMP Alumni
  • And so much more

Responsibilities

  1. Participates in the preparation of analytics data to support the work of the department.*
  2. Facilitates and ensures completion of assigned departmental projects.*
  3. Meets with administration leadership to support analysis of scope of service and data.*
  4. Reviews and assists in the analysis of external data for patterns, trends and methodology.*
  5. Assists in studies to objectively ascertain the efficiency, economy and effectiveness of department or Hospital operations, policies and procedures.*
  6. Assists management in facilitating new programs and/or procedures.*
  7. Performs related duties, as required.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's level program, majoring in a related field, required.
  • Current undergraduate college students whose expected graduation date is between December 2025 and May 2026
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Powerpoint, Word and Excel, required.
  • Prior administrative experience in a hospital setting, preferred.

Schedule and Location:

Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM - 37.5 hours/per week, In-person

Duration: June 2025 to August 2025
