Frontline Impact/Audience Engagement Internship - Spring 2025

As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

FRONTLINE, one of the nation's most respected investigative documentary units, is seeking an Impact/Engagement Intern to help our impact team connect our films, our journalism, and our brand with new, engaged, and diverse audiences everywhere. 

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking candidates who can assist our impact team with engagement plans around our major journalistic initiatives. The top priority of the intern is to coordinate efforts that connect our content with appropriate partners, supporters, funders and audiences in real world settings where our documentaries and other innovative projects can be prominently featured and experienced. The Impact/Audience Engagement intern will report directly to the series Director of Impact Strategy and External Relations and work closely with our Senior Editor of the Local Journalism Initiative.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with research, planning, implementation and follow-up for impact/engagement meetings and programs
  • Support the planning of impact events to showcase the series documentaries and special projects that introduce FRONTLINE’s content to more diverse audiences across distribution platforms.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including promotion, registration, presentation, film format production, print traffic, audio/visual equipment check, and pre- and post-event evaluations
  • Record minutes of event planning, marketing, and campaign meetings 
  • Assist with written summaries, reports, newsletter items, memos etc.
  • Research, create, and maintain CMS/distribution lists for potential partners among academic institutions, thought leaders/influencers, policymakers, professional, journalism, advocacy and film organizations 
  • Special projects, as assigned

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • The ideal candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, and a resourceful problem solver 
  • Exceptional professional manner, customer service, and interpersonal skills are required
  • Excellent written and oral skills a must, as is a strong initiative and ability to thrive when working as a part of a team and independently in order to achieve goals 
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects, multi-task, and work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy  
  • Database management experience preferred
  • We are especially interested in candidates who have a strong interest in, or are inspired by multiplatform journalism, documentary film, and distribution

JOB-STATUS

Paid Internship $17/hour (Part-time)

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

GBH internships provide students with valuable work experience and real-world knowledge across many different fields of study, from TV and radio production to web design, accounting, law, and other administrative areas.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

  • Internship dates: January 27th to April 18th.
  • Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wi-Fi.
  • Candidates must be in an Undergrad or Grad program and have work authorization for the United States.
