Summer 2025 - Surveying Intern

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Surveying Intern to join our Surveying team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the program for at least 3 months and can work full-time.

 

**This position will more than likely be in the field with a survey crew and you might have to work out of town some with overnight stays.**

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Learn the instruments and skills used in Land Surveying under the guidance of experienced professionals.
  • Ensure the preparation of accurate, complete, and value-added work products by completing and improving assigned portions of the document delivery process as directed.
  • Perform the necessary research and analyses to deliver work accurately and completely, ensuring to check work before it is reviewed by others.
  • Perform minor survey computations to support surveying activities.
  • Ensure timely document delivery by completing assigned tasks on or ahead of schedule and understanding individual activity schedules as they relate to the overall project status.
  • Ensure all survey equipment is properly loaded and unloaded daily to maintain operational readiness for field surveys.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to bolster project goals and team objectives.

Required:

  • Currently pursuing at least, a 2-year degree in surveying, civil engineering, or a related program.
  • Basic understanding of surveying principles and techniques.

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with survey equipment and software, such as GPS, total stations, and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial analysis techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and processing.
  • Ability to interpret maps, plans, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with fieldwork and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Previous internship or work experience in surveying or a related field.
  • Experience in the architecture/engineering/construction management industry.

 

 

Compensation Range:

$35,035.00 - $46,713.00
