Risk (Freight Claims) Internship Summary Description

Join our team for a 10-week Risk (Freight Claims) Department internship designed to provide comprehensive exposure to freight claims and risks matters.  The internship will allow you to gain exposure to identifying automotive damage trends by analyzing root cause and providing recommendations on reducing CSX Freight Claims Liability:

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in claims and risks, develop essential skills, interact and learn from key leaders, while contributing to meaningful projects and major company processes. By the end of the program, you will have a well-rounded understanding of the freight claims and risks processes in the rail industry.

Internship Details  

  • This is a 10 Week Summer Internship Program starting on May 27, 2025 and ending August 1, 2025.
  • Interns are expected to be in Jacksonville for the duration of the program.
  • Daily work schedule is hybrid or onsite.  Fully remote is not an option.
  • CSX provides optional intern housing for the duration of the 10-week program, as long as the selected intern meets eligibility criteria
  • Competitive hourly pay

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist leadership in resolving customer damage issues and improve overall automotive Quarterly Performance Metrics
  • Review auto inspection analysis to identify root cause
  • Review auto processing system logic
  • Review of factory quality defects and provide trends to reduce and eliminate damages
  • Participate in the Toyota Kaizen Rail handling quality
  • Analyze and review GM monthly quality report by origin and destination
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in in Business/Strategic Management, Sales/Account Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations or related major field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internship

Knowledge and Skills     

  • Work under pressure and maintain composure while handling multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail and ability to meet short deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team environment
  • Organizational skills and problem solving ability
  • Knowledge and ability to perform data mining (EDW data warehouse, BOBJ, etc.), data analysis, data reconciliation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; specifically, Excel and PowerPoint

Job Requirements

  • Work inside an office environment
  • Successfully complete a background check and drug test
