Circuit Actions Network Specialist

This position is located at the RTS Operations Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and troubleshoot with DISA NetOps centers, adjacent facilities, customer agencies, maintenance organizations, and commercial vendors to install, troubleshoot, isolate, and repair DISA circuits.
  • Generate technical control operating records such as circuit history folders, trouble tickets, outage, and restoration records.
  • Create and maintain circuit drawings using design, drawing, and engineering software (i.e. AutoCAD, MS Visio, etc)
  • Use schematic diagrams, manufacturer’s service manual, and other documentation in determining equipment fault/circuit degradation and in performing repair/restoral.
  • Provide tier II level troubleshooting of network systems both classified and unclassified.
  • Maintain network configuration baselines and make improvements to adhere with policy, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assume responsibility for Taclane encryptors operating within the range networks.
  • Execute preventive maintenance on all network devices.
  • Report network issues and maintain a change log.
  • Audit and maintain active network documentation.
  • Maintain hardware inventories and ensures appropriate network device spares.
  • Perform and document periodic network performance testing.
  • Prepare reports, studies and research as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot Cisco network environments (i.e. switches, routers, firewalls, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cyber security STIGs compliance and Security Standards/Protocols.
  • Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Solarwinds is desired.
  • Ability to patch, test, troubleshoot communications circuits.
  • Proficient ability to read schematic diagrams, manufacturer’s service manuals, and other documentation to determine equipment fault or circuit degradation and to perform repair and restoration procedures.
  • Must have an understanding of DOD/DISA transport connection/provisioning requirements.
  • Previous experience with DISA, Commercial, SCN Comm systems and topology.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in network technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems Management or experience in lieu of education.
  • Two (2) years experience implementing, operating, and troubleshooting Cisco-based networks.
  • Active CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification.
  • Security+ or equivalent DoD Directive 8570.07-M certification.
  • Active CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification is desired.
  • Experience with DISA Node Site Coordinating of a Technical Control Facility desired.

 Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 20 lbs. unassisted.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
