Pediatric Nurse Intern - Summer Camp

Use your experience in Nursing to provide care at an incredible sleep-away camp experience for a neurodivergent population. Our campers are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or a similar profile. Beyond Akeela is a summer camp program for teenagers, based just outside Boston, for teens, structured in a way that develops social skills, confidence, and independence in a socially immersive community.

Why work at Akeela

As much as Akeela is about its teens, we place a tremendous emphasis on building a sense of community for everyone. You'll work closely with a team of RNs and NPs to gain practical experience caring for a niche population that is difficult to get experience with.

You'll gain experience triaging, handling medication, liaising with family members, and operating a full medical center. With a small team, there's no room for simply observing - you'll get stuck in to providing real care.

You’ll also walk away with a community of staff who you’ve networked with professionally and built amazing friendships with socially. You’ll feel a new sense of pride because you helped create a community for your campers. Camp jobs offer invaluable skill-building, leadership, training, and enrichment opportunities found nowhere else.

Additionally, the position also includes some responsibility supporting a team of nannies for 6 year old twins and a 4 month old, which will provide a fun break from time in the health center!

We are seeking energetic students and recent grads who are excited to put their clinical experience to use in a residential environment!

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Interest in working hard and positively transforming the lives of campers.
  • Must be willing to live on site for the duration of the summer program (June 21-August 6).
