The creative team that brought Mortal Kombat and Injustice to life is now NetherRealm Studios, part of the Warner Bros. Games family. These co-ops will be located in Chicago, IL from June to December 2025 (6 months). The selected co-ops will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern managers in office schedule.
The Job
Design, author, maintain and refactor code that meet all design, technical and schedule requirements
Collaborate with Principal Engineers, Leads, and other engineers to complete feature requests and fix bugs
Author, review and provide feedback on technical and end-user documentation of new tools and features
Collaborate with technical leadership and other engineers to help establish overall technical design and architecture
Work closely with the production staff in building and maintaining realistic schedules and identifying dependencies
The Essentials
Currently enrolled as a student working towards a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older)
Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA) A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.
Working knowledge of C++
Highly motivated to build easy to use, robust tools
Ability to collaborate with engineers and content creators to develop robust, maintainable, cutting-edge tools technology
Creative, focused, results-oriented, self-motivated, resourceful problem solver with excellent debugging and strong communication skills
Ability to thrive in a team development environment
Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. The Nice To Haves
Experience working with Unreal Engine/Editor
Experience developing engine tools for 3D games for a console
Experience working with artists and collecting requirements
Familiarity with the workings of 3D design tools (level editors, modeling tools, etc.)
Working knowledge of 3D math

And finally, what to know before applying:
The duration of the Summer 2025 co-op program is 6 months from June to December dependent on the student’s availability based on semester schedule
Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity for the full duration of the program.
Our internships are paid opportunities. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
We are interviewing through Fall 2024 on a rolling basis. A Warner Bros. Discovery Intern team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation for roles in locations where legally required. Pay Rate: $31 per hour USD for undergrad interns.
