Psychology Intern: facilitates support groups in addition to responsibilities within the Programs Department (program development, blog writing, community & empowerment via social media, resource cultivation, ongoing mentor recruitment, monitors and submits monthly Key Performance Indicator data, school staff, church staff, and service partners.
- This is a 6 Month Internship program where interns work VIRTUALLY as Program Developers & Resource Navigators for our clients.
- The Intern will receive direct supervision from the Programs Department Manager, Case Management Mentor, and President. The intern will also get the chance to work in self-organized teams on different monthly projects.

This internship is unpaid, but eligible for academic or course credit if approved by your educational institution.
Responsibilities:
- Abide by HIPAA laws in relation to confidentiality and client boundaries
- Perform mandated reporter responsibilities at all times
- Assist in development, scheduling, and facilitation of workshops and service programs.
- Assist in development and facilitation of support groups in relation to your committee and its targeted demographic for program clients/participants to share personal experiences and feel like part of a community.
- Work closely with staff to provide a safe and supportive environment for the delivery of programs and services.
- Maintain effective verbal and written communication with staff, and faculty as needed.
- Act as a liaison between Care Coordinators and Thaddeus services
- Assist in content writing, social media content creation, and active online community engagement as part of the organization-wide marketing strategy for client/participant recruitment and overall community engagement purposes
- Collaborate with team members to complete general department administrative work and perform other assigned duties, as needed
- Participate in our Buddy system once assimilated and act as a mentor/point of contact for new interns transitioning into your team during their induction and onboarding process
- Will help create programs for Thaddeus Resource Center's clients and grow the program as a whole.
- Will be responsible for researching in coordination with the Care Coordinator for resources, verify validity of resources, keep them organized and stay connected to the resources.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Science or have an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Flexible schedule to work on group projects outside of the mandatory meetings
- Ability to be consistent and adaptive as circumstances warrant
- Comfortable working with diverse clients.
- Ability to present oneself in an appropriate personable and professional manner to students, participants, and partners
- Demonstrates strong verbal and writing communication skills in a professional manner via video call, telephone and written documentation
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in psychological emergencies and/ or crisis
- Knowledge and basic skills in counseling practices and methods
- Can work independently with little instructions and a strong attention to details
- Ability to receive and utilize constructive feedback regarding performance, presentation and relationships with others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to pass the mandated reporter exam
- Intern must have the appropriate technology, internet connection and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and OneNote
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe Acrobat DC)
- Familiarity with Southern California
Learning Objectives:
- Interns will gain basic knowledge in the development and facilitation of workshops and service programs.
- Intern will learn to prepare and facilitate support groups related to a specific demographic group
- Intern will develop competence in basic skills of community outreach and psychoeducation
- At the end of this learning experience, intern will know how to confidently research resources for quality of care delivery to clients.
Time Commitment and Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work 15 hours per week
- Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings:
- Weekly All Staff Meeting: Tuesdays 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM PST
- Weekly Department Meeting: Tuesdays 1-2:30 PM PST
- Programs Client Meeting Time: Tuesday 10:30 AM-12 PM PST
- Must be able to commit to this 6-month internship.
