Senior Asset Management Engineer

Asset Management is critical to the success of the Raleigh Stormwater mission. The Senior Asset Management Engineer position will lead the development of the condition assessment and rehabilitation program for conveyance assets and act as a liaison to stormwater maintenance staff.
 

The Senior Asset Management Engineer reports to the Asset Management Supervisor and is responsible for leading development of condition assessment and rehabilitation programs as well as acting as a liaison to stormwater maintenance staff.  The senior asset management engineer develops inspection programs for conveyance assets, collaborates closely with maintenance staff to perform inspections, identifies priority repairs, and collaborates with the maintenance staff and capital improvements team to implement projects.  This individual will manage priority capital projects and serve as the subject matter expert for conveyance system rehabilitation.  The senior asset management engineer develops asset data in Cityworks and GIS, and proactively tracks, evaluates, reports, and continuously improves key metrics related to these responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Develops condition assessment and asset renewal and replacement strategies
  • Works with Stormwater Maintenance to ensure operations and data collection meet MS4 permit requirements
  • Serves as subject matter expert on conveyance rehabilitation techniques
  • Manages conveyance system rehabilitation projects through planning, design, and construction
  • Works as a liaison between Stormwater Maintenance and Engineering staff to provide engineering support for priority repairs and key initiatives
  • Lead data management initiatives within the asset management program
  • Develops and implements new business processes to support asset management
  • Assists in reviewing, interpreting, and updating the risk framework in Cityworks; works closely with GIS Team to support maintenance and updates to the risk model
  • Utilizes ESRI ArcGIS applications
  • Supports development of mobile applications for condition assessment using Cityworks mobile, Survey 123, or similar
  • Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City Department staff
  • Researches industry trends, solutions, and best practices related to asset management
  • Researching technical issues and developing recommendations
  • Attends meetings with Council, staff, engineers and other project stakeholders; facilitates and presents at public meetings; prepares presentations and meeting materials; provides updates and status reporting
  • Maintains project documentation, standards documentation, databases, files, records and reports. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

 

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or directly related field and five years of professional engineering and/or construction/project management experience in area of assignment

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Licensing/Certifications:
 

  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) Registration within 12 months
  • Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
