Cultural Resource Management Internship Summer 2025

Are you passionate about history, archaeology, and preserving cultural heritage? Join the Cultural Resource Management Office (CRMO) at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), a leader in energy and environmental research, for a unique internship experience.

Reporting to the Cultural Resource Management manager, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals dedicated to the management and protection of cultural resources. Your responsibilities will include assisting with fieldwork, such as archaeological surveys and monitoring, historical research, and GPS/GIS mapping. Additionally, you will participate in the identification of precontact and historic artifacts, contribute to the documentation and assessment of historical buildings and structures, assist with researching and accessioning archival materials and collections, and support the CRMO in compliance with federal, state, and local cultural resource laws and regulations. This team works a 9x80 schedule and works at the Idaho Falls campus. 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Enrolled full time student status at an accredited college or university: undergraduate or graduate student
  • Seeking or earned degree in: Anthropology, Archaeology, History, Cultural Resource Management, History, Architectural History, Archives, Library Science or a related field
  • Minimum overall 3.0 Grade Point Average
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Undergraduate Internships ($25.65/hour - $30.70/hour)
  • Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($31.75/hour - $34.06/hour)
  • PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($33.75/hour - $36.06/hour)
  • Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on degree field and level of education.
