Lead and Assistant Teachers

Red Caboose Child Care Center, Inc. 

We are hiring for Lead and Assistant qualified teacher for our two, three, mixed-age group, and four-year-old classrooms.  We are expanding our program in our new childcare center!                 

Purpose of Position 

 The Assistant Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in all classroom activities and responsibilities including but not limited to: Preparing and setting up activities, implementing portions of the daily program as directed by the Lead Teacher, assist in keeping the classroom functioning, and storage areas, clean, neat, and orderly, assisting with diapering and potty training and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the children.   

Duties and Responsibilities  

• Supervising and ensuring safety of the children within their care
• Ability to critically think and apply thought processes to the classroom
• Displaying a patient and calm personality coupled with a loving approach to every child.
• Contributing positively to the behavior and social interaction of the children.
• Building secure relationships with the children and families
• Working closely with the Lead Teacher, Executive Director and Preschool Program Director to ensure that guidelines are adhered to
• Ensuring close communication with parents throughout the day should the need arise.

Written Documentation 

• Assist in maintaining accurate written records; including assessments, educational documentation, screening instruments, observations, accident reports, naptimes, mealtimes, etc

Collaboration 

• Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings
• Assist in relaying open dialogue with parents, and other staff, regarding the child’s status and progress.
• Open and positive communications with the Lead Teacher and other staff in the building

Curriculum 

• Help assess individual and group needs, attending to special needs, specific interests, strengths and concerns
• Learn by play curriculum, allowing children to use their imagination and grow their skills from play and interaction
• Assist the Lead Teacher in delivering the lesson plans that have been laid out for the classroom

Miscellaneous 

• Attend meetings and trainings as well as meeting individual Continuing Education Hours
• Other duties as established, within Red Caboose, Licensing and Accreditation Standards

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications 

• Assistant Teacher qualifications that are laid out by the State of Wisconsin, City of Madison Accreditation and Red Caboose must be met
• All coursework completed as required by the above-mentioned
• If coursework is not completed by time of hire, must completed within 6 months of hire
• Prior experience within the Infant Childcare realm a plus, but not necessary for the right individual
