Actuarial Intern - Summer 2025

Internship Summary: We are actively hiring for an Actuarial Intern! This summer, we are looking for motivated individuals looking to begin a career in our Personal Lines & Product Management division to support our Actuarial team. As an intern, you will use statistical analysis to recommend improvements to company operations in various ways, such as improving product performance, analyzing claim trends, and tackling business challenges through creative pricing solutions.

 

CSAA Internship Program: As an intern, you will participate in an 11-week summer internship experience with an emphasis on hands-on learning and real-world immersion into our business. Our interns participate in professional development and job-specific training and plenty of networking opportunities to gain deep understanding of their role and department while also broadening their knowledge of CSAA’s business. We offer an Intern Hackathon, executive meet and greets, community service opportunities, and social bonding activities to help you stay connected. 

 

Internship Details: The anticipated dates of our 2025 summer internship will be May 19-August 1. This role is open to both remote or hybrid based out of our Glendale, AZ office. The anticipated hourly rate for this role is $30.00.

 

Essential responsibilities

 

  • Gain exposure to one or more of the following Actuarial teams: Pricing, Pricing Design, or Reserving
  • Develops and analyzes facts to assist others in developing rates, performing competitive analysis, and setting loss reserves.
  • Compiles data, performs statistical analysis, and summarizes results
  • Work on a capstone project throughout the summer which includes working with a small team and presenting to senior management at the end of the summer
  • Receive career development and support from an assigned mentor to grow your statistical and actuarial analysis skills 
  • Develop good working knowledge of the insurance industry

 

Ideal Qualifications

 

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, MIS, Data Analytics, Finance, or related quantitative major
  • Rising juniors and seniors ideally graduating on or before Summer 2024
  • Interested to begin a career in the insurance industry and/or actuarial analysis
  • One or more actuarial exams passed
  • Working knowledge and/or familiar with Excel, SAS, and/or Python/R
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytically minded with an eye for attention to detail
  • Must have authorization to work indefinitely in the US.
