Senior Engineering Specialist

The Transportation Department is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Senior Engineering Specialist. This role involves reviewing, coding, and providing quality assurance to underground stormwater asset inspection data within the Transportation Maintenance Business Systems unit.

The Business Systems unit supports the technology applications and systems essential for the daily operations of Transportation Maintenance. This includes ensuring quality assurance, managing databases, generating follow-up work assignments, and reviewing third-party submissions related to the inspection of underground stormwater assets.

The ideal candidate possesses expertise in pipe inspection technologies and practices and is well-versed in NASSCO PACP, MACP, and LACP standards. They should also have familiarity with techniques for installing stormwater and pipe assets as well as methods for repairing underground infrastructure.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Reviews work product and performs quality assurance of stormwater asset inspections; creates inspection reports; creates follow-up work based on technical knowledge of asset repair techniques
  • Performs technical review of stormwater permit inspection package; reviews plan for repairs, and/or field revisions; research project-related information; reviews submittals and makes approval/denial decisions
  • Provide inspection support for stormwater asset inspections using NASSCO PACP, LACP, MACP
  • Prepares, updates and/or maintains project ?les, databases, tracking documents, activity/performance reports, GIS, maps, and/or standards documentation
  • Provides technical advice and guidance related to pipe repair technologies and techniques; pipe inspection technologies; other stormwater asset inspection techniques
  • Prepares technical and administrative reports; prepares, updates and/or maintains project ?les, databases, tracking documents, activity/performance reports, GIS, maps, and/or standards documentation
  • Attends and/or coordinates meetings including project reviews; prepares agenda, meeting noti?cations and materials
  • Provides customer support and responds to inquiries, complaints and information requests; performs research or investigations; veri?es and provides procedure/process information
  • Monitors supplies and equipment; contacts vendors to discuss equipment options; and provides recommendations
  • Will regularly drive to field sites for inspections as well as attend off-site meetings

 

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in engineering or directly related field and three years of paraprofessional engineering experience, preferably in area of assignment

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
