Student Nurse Summer Internship

The Student Nurse Intern (SNI) performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care with the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) under Sec. N6.03(3), Wisconsin Administration code. The designated tasks are those which have been taught in the academic programs and/or orientation, and where the individual has demonstrated competence to a designated RN.

Qualifications
Completion of the junior year of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program and is a senior in good standing or completion of an adult process and two semesters in nursing of an accredited ADN program as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN- formerly NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) in good standing orsuccessfully completed two full clinical rotations of a direct entry Master of Science in nursing programby December 2025 or May 2026.
 

Collects data and provides input to the RN to assist in developing and updating an individualized plan of care including patient goals, evaluation dates and interventions. 

Documents patient care in accordance with documentation guidelines. Monitors the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and patient care. Provides patient with basic healthcare instruction while delivering care. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and ability of patients served. 

Demonstrates initiative and commitment to growth through active participation and involvement in ongoing education programs. Demonstrates ability to accept accountabilities and responsibility. Provides assistance to the RN in performing patient care activities consistent with established standards of practice

License or Certification:

We will accept only the following BLS/CPR certifications: 

•American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers)
•Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers OR BLS for Healthcare Providers)
•Military Training Network

Your certification must be valid for at least three months after you begin employment.

You will be expected to provide the following materials at the time you submit your application:

  • A resume that highlights your educational background (degree and anticipated graduation date), cumulative GPA, paid employment history and volunteer activities.  Attach resume under the system prompt “Resume”.
  • Academic transcript (can be unofficial)

After submitting your application, you will receive an e-mail invitation to complete a HireVue Interview.  This is part of your application; your application will be considered incomplete if this step is not completed.  If you apply to both Wisconsin Student Nurse Intern programs, only one HireVue Interview will be required.

Applications must be submitted by December 24th, 2024 at midnight.  Any application submitted without the required documents or incomplete HireVue Interview will not be considered.  Interviews will be conducted January 2025.
