Spanish-English Translator in a Healthcare Environment

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team as a Spanish-English Translator in Madrid. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic healthcare environment while contributing to the provision of high-quality care to our diverse patient population.

Possible Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely translation services from Spanish to English and vice versa for medical documents, patient records, and communications.
  • Assist healthcare professionals in facilitating effective communication with English-speaking patients and their families during consultations, appointments, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure clear and concise communication across language barriers, promoting patient understanding and satisfaction.
  • Translate written materials such as informational brochures, discharge instructions, and educational resources to support patient education and engagement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive medical information and communications.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in translation, with the ability to convey complex medical terminology and concepts effectively.
  • Passion for healthcare and a desire to contribute to improving patient outcomes through effective communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.

About the Organization

Network of hospitals in Spain. In total, it unites seven clinics located in Madrid and eight in other cities of the country. The main areas : cancer treatment for adults and children, neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology and orthopedics.

 

On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance. 
 

Academic Credit

Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.
