Analytical Technician
Seeking an experienced Analytical Technician. An individual in this role will use machining tools to prepare metal samples for various chemical analyses and will utilize analytical instrumentation to determine the chemical composition of the metal samples. Analytical instrumentation includes, ICP, ARC Spark, ICP-MS, GFAA, Combustion & IGF gas analyzers, and XRF. You will be working with Titanium, Aluminum, Nickel, and Iron alloys from companies across the globe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Using acids such as HCl, HNO 3 , and HF to digest material
- Use of instrumentation to determine chemical composition of customer's material
- Using bolt cutters, band saws, mills, and grinders for sample prep purposes
- Prioritizing jobs to ensure they are completed in the correct order
- Using pipettes to transfer digestions and calibration standards into the appropriate containers
- Maintaining/cleaning the instrumentation being used to ensure proper functionality
- Maintaining quality integrity and documentation for safety-critical customer requirements
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned
- Reporting when consumables are needed for respective equipment
Qualifications and Skills :
- US Citizenship required
- BA/BS degree in sciences or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of 1 year experience in chemistry, other sciences, or laboratories
- Experience in chemical analysis of material composition, or similar techniques
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Basic computer skills required
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong time management skills
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Experience in quality systems and a regulatory driven environment
- Working knowledge of sample prep/digestion preferred
- Hands-on mechanical experience a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, sit, or move around for prolonged periods of time
