Student Intern, Pharmacy

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Student Intern will gain practical experience in a hospital setting by working in a department that aligns with their academic major. This role provides students with the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world environment, develop professional skills, and gain insights into the healthcare industry

Pharmacy

 

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Support department staff with routine tasks and projects to facilitate smooth operational workflows.
  •  Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to discussions as appropriate.
  •  Engage in hands-on learning experiences relevant to the student’s field of study.
  •  Shadow professionals within the department to gain insights into specific roles and responsibilities.
  •  Assist in gathering and analyzing data for departmental reports or projects.
  •  Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by the department.
  • Observe and, when appropriate, assist in patient interactions under the supervision of qualified staff.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies regarding patient care.
  • Work on assigned projects or initiatives that align with departmental goals.
  • Contribute ideas and solutions to improve processes or services within the department.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and organization of departmental resources.
  • Help prepare materials for meetings or training sessions.
  • Network with hospital staff and other interns to build professional relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Level I: 
Students entering freshman year through the completion of senior year of college. 
Level II: 
Students entering graduate or professional studies (beyond a Bachelors degree) and subsequent years of study.

 

DEPARTMENT PREFERENCES:

  • Only Available to Individuals who have successfully completed the first professional year of study in an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Program. 
  • Must be able to obtain a Pharmacy Limited (Intern) Permit Prior to Starting Internship.
