MRI Technologist
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of a radiologist, performs MRI imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures using independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed MRI imaging for radiologic diagnosis. Assume responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Maintains quality assurance and control records and leads project to obtain certification for advanced imaging procedures. Assists supervisor with administrative duties as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the MRI Tech include:
• Operation of MRI Scanner to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
• Preparing patients for MRI procedures, while ensuring their safety throughout the exam. This includes patient education about MRI procedures, to promote mental well-being during the exam.
• Calibration and maintenance of the MRI equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Monitoring and recording patient information, including, but not limited to, medical history and any contraindications for the exam.
• Collaboration with healthcare professionals, such as radiologists and physicians to review and interpret images obtained during the exam.
• Adhering to all policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines to ensure safety of patients, staff, physicians, and all visitors of Cooper Green in the MRI area.
• Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
• Associate’s Degree in Radiology.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as an MRI Tech.
• Please note: Work experience may not substitute for the education requirement.
• Certification: Current registration as a radiologic technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists [R.T.ARRT(R)].
• Current CPR Certification required.
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology.
• Advanced Registration [R.T.ARRT(R)(MR)].
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
This role requires mostly sitting at a desk or table, with intermittent standing, stooping, and walking. At times, the role requires bending and crouching.
This location of this role is onsite.
