Telecommunications Specialist | Bureau of Land Management

The incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

Coordinating and providing support to State and Field Offices for voice and data equipment installation and maintenance.

Working closely with other telecommunications personnel in the design, installation, and repair of radio equipment.

Interfacing dispatch consoles, base, repeater, and mobile radios and tone remotes.

Developing and conducting in-house training sessions for users in the proper use and capability of the equipment.

Reviewing radio frequency authorizations in accordance with Department and Bureau requirements, prepares requests for new authorizations as needed, and coordinates updates with assigned offices.

Scaling radio tower heights up to 100 feet in the air to provide installation and maintenance of antennas and Coax/Heliax/Waveguide runs to radio system equipment.

Successfully completing approved climbing performance course and obtaining/maintaining climbing certification.
