Operations Intern

About the Role: 

An Operations Intern at Thaddeus will perform administrative, technical, and professional duties. This position requires someone that can function in a fast-paced and enthusiastic environment; someone who is a self-starter, detail and goal oriented, and can multi-task on a day-to-day basis. The intern will learn to communicate, perform and collaborate with professionals, clients and outsourced entities.  

The Intern will receive direct mentorship from the Operations manager under the President.

This internship is unpaid, but eligible for academic or course credit if approved by your educational institution.

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform a variety of administrative support duties such as research, data entry and analysis, identifying discrepancies within the organization, and spreadsheet management
  • Analyze, generate, and maintain all Thaddeus records and other reference material
  • Collaborate with other departments and committees within Thaddeus while staying up-to-date on any progress made on strategic goals
  • Develop operations strategic goals and feasible plans aligned with the organization's long-term business goals
  • Analyze, generate, and maintain all Thaddeus records and other reference material
  • Create presentations for organizational leaders and/or organization as a whole
  • Update and track of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a monthly or quarterly basis
  • Collect data about organization programs and create reports to present to the Thaddeus community
  • Answer and make phone calls in a professional manner, providing answers when possible and transferring calls or taking messages when needed
  • Respond to questions and concerns of management, staff and community partners, and send professional written communication, as needed
  • Partake in provided facilitation training and assist in facilitation of one or more of the organization’s virtual departments and/or committees
  • Participate in our Buddy system once assimilated and act as a mentor/point of contact for new interns transitioning into your team during their induction and onboarding process

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Ability to learn, interpret, explain, and apply strong and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines
  • Demonstrates strong and effective research, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate as a team member and have a flexible schedule for group work outside of the mandatory meetings
  • Ability to work independently with little instructions and a strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Intern must have the appropriate technology, internet connection and ability to function in a virtual capacity via Microsoft Teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and OneNote

Learning Objectives: 

  • Learn to work fast and expeditiously
  • Learn methods and techniques of research, analysis, reports and internal business operations
  • Learn tools and techniques to facilitate online meetings
  • Learn to evaluate, identify, and solve problems
  • Learn to build and manage relationships with staff, management and community partners
  • Learn project management processes, such as develop a schedule, define scope, engage stakeholders and risk management
  • Learn to tailor Agile frameworks in order to address institutional needs
  • Learn general knowledge of strategic planning and monitoring
  • Learn general knowledge of different aspects of a managerial role

Time Commitment: 

  • Must be available to work 15 hours per week
  • Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings:
    • Weekly All Staff Meeting: Tuesdays 9 AM - 10 AM PST 
    • Weekly Department Meeting: Thursdays 2 PM - 3 PM PST
  • The 6 Month Internship Program is our minimum internship program.
  • The 1 Year Internship Program is where you will receive the most experience.
