Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT)

Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT) to join the firm in our Burnsville, MN, office to work with multi-disciplinary teams on State, Local Government, and private projects, primarily in the transportation arena. 

 

Our LSITs play a crucial role in assisting licensed Professional Land Surveyors (PLS) in conducting land surveying tasks and projects. The LSIT is responsible for supporting the surveying team, collecting field data, performing calculations, and ensuring the accuracy of surveying work. They are valued members of the Stonebrooke team!   

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Field Work: Assist in conducting land surveys by operating surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS units, and levels. Set up surveying instruments, collect field data, and ensure accurate measurements.
  • Data Processing: Assist in processing and managing survey data. Perform calculations, data reduction, and adjustments as required.
  • Boundary Surveys: Assist in conducting boundary surveys, including researching property records, setting survey monuments, and preparing survey plats.
  • Topographic Surveys: Participate in topographic and site surveys to gather data for engineering and construction projects.
  • Construction Staking: Assist in construction staking activities by providing layout information to contractors for construction projects.
  • AutoCAD/GIS: Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS software for drafting and mapping tasks.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of field notes, survey data, and project documentation.
  • Safety: Ensure that all surveying activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company and industry safety standards.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate effectively with surveying teams, engineers, and other professionals to achieve project goals.

  • Knowledge of relevant state and local surveying regulations and standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying or a related field, as well as LSIT certification with ability to obtain a Minnesota Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license within 12 months
