State Park Intern – Prince Gallitzin State Park

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This is a professional internship position to implement an assigned projects of: 1) Conducting boat inspections at boat launch areas within Prince Gallitzin State Park to create awareness of aquatic invasive species. 2) Using GPS to collect park attributes including road data, buildings, utilities, etc. Additional State Park experienced will be gained by assisting staff in different responsibility areas such as Crooked Run Campground Office, Environmental Education assistance, and Maintenance tasks by working with a range of position classifications while at Prince Gallitzin State Park.
The selected intern will be responsible for: utilizing a GPS unit to collect mentioned attributes; being familiar with aquatic invasive species, furthering knowledge of successful boat inspection programs in Pennsylvania and other states. Intern will be set up at specified boat launch areas during peak operational times addressing boaters by public speaking and education, preform visual checks on boats, collect data, and pas.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Off on Monday and Tuesday
- Off on Monday and Tuesday
- This position may require evenings and weekends, not to exceed 37.5 hours a week.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:
- Current full-time enrollment in a two-year degree, bachelor’s degree or advanced degree program in one of the following acceptable majors:
- Environmental Education
- Recreation Management
- Natural Sciences
- An approved major course which includes a qualifying 24 credit hours of study in the physical, biological and environmental sciences may be acceptable.
- Freshman year completed.
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
- Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
