June 9 - June 27: Virtual Learning
July 9 - August 1: Clinical Observations
This internship immerses students in public health and volunteerism through a 7-week program that enriches their understanding of public health and/or healthcare.
We are looking for 8 diverse students studying in the areas of public health, nursing, healthcare related fields, social work, and psychology.
The program is fully remote with the exception of the 3-night orientation on the campus of Frontier Nursing University. It will be up to the student to find their own clinical observation in their area of interest with the direction and assistance from the director. The clinical observation should cover an aspect or multiple aspects of public health. These can be, but not limited to, health departments, social work, mobile healthcare, hospitals, nursing, midwifery clinics, community outreach, etc. Clinical observations should take no less than 75 hours during the time of their internship.
Students will also volunteer at an organization of their choice for a minimum of 20 hours during their time in internship. The organization should be in service to public health in some way.
At the conclusion of the program, each student will be required to present a 10-minute presentation on their county's health assessment, their volunteerism, and their observations. Students must demonstrate that they fully understand public health in their area and how this internship can guide them on their journey.
