Pediatric Occupational Therapist Job Description (Arizona DDD)
A Pediatric Occupational Therapist provides therapy services to children with developmental disabilities under the guidelines of the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). The role focuses on enhancing the child’s ability to perform daily activities and achieve independence in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate the developmental, functional, and motor skills of children with physical, emotional, cognitive, or developmental disabilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the child, family, and interdisciplinary team, adhering to Arizona DDD requirements.
- Implement therapeutic interventions to improve fine motor skills, sensory integration, self-care routines, and overall independence.
- Provide guidance and education to families and caregivers on therapeutic strategies to reinforce skills at home.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with Arizona DDD standards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, speech therapists, and case managers, to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
- Utilize adaptive equipment and recommend environmental modifications to support the child’s functional development.
- Participate in Individual Support Plan (ISP) meetings and communicate progress to stakeholders, including DDD representatives.
- Stay updated on Arizona DDD regulations, therapy advancements, and best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current Arizona Occupational Therapy License.
- Certification: Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- DDD Vendor Approval: Must be a registered provider with the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities or eligible to obtain approval.
- Experience: Preferably 1-2 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy; experience with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Skills: Strong assessment and intervention skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in documentation and reporting.

- Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Reliable transportation for home-based or community-based therapy sessions.
