Level I: $14.10/hour Level II: $15.36/hour Level III: $16.77/hour
Level Qualifications
Level I. High school diploma/GED; pre-school experience preferred; must enter CDA training prefer experience working with children with special needs
Level II. Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher State of WV credential or a CDA/ACDS credential.
Level III. Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher State of WV credential or a CDA/ACDS credential plus 3years of experience in early childhood education.
Basic Qualifications
Must meet Level I qualifications. Have the desire to work with young children. Have a strong interest in improving self and community. Be self-motivated with ability to work without direct supervision. Writing skills. Valid driver’s license with safe driving record or state ID. Must pass drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications

Position Details (This is a sampling of duties and responsibilities of this position)
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. Assist in implementing strategies outlined in IEPs (Individualized Education Program) and lesson plans. Carry out planned activities in center without direct assistance of teacher. Assist with classroom management using positive guidance techniques such as re-direction, modeling, cooperation play, providing directions, encouraging taking turns, etc. Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills. Assist in directing/managing activities with children and their use of learning materials and equipment. Responsible for data entry as assigned. Aid individual children with toileting, feeding, grooming and other self-help areas as directed by the teacher. Assist with lunches, snacks, clean-up/wash-up and toilet routines, which may include diapering. Proper diapering procedure will be followed. Assist with individual mobility needs of children, which may include lifting and/or carrying. Assist with physical therapy as directed by the Physical Therapist. Observe the classroom and outdoors for any safety hazards. Attain a working knowledge of, follow and support agency/program policies and procedures. Reflect a pleasant and professional attitude to the staff, children, parents and the community. Work cooperatively and supportively with center staff to provide best possible services to Head Start families. Work cooperatively with other staff to engage families in school readiness activities. Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required, local and out-of-area.
