CTE-Tech Ed Teacher
The position of a CTE-Tech Ed Teacher will be available at East Central ISD for the 2024-2025 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective teaching and learning. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of student’s assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities, design student collaborative groups, and appropriate career-exploration experiences.
- Assist with and develop working relationships with multiple industry partners and higher education institutions.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and assign work to the instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal (Career and Technical Student Organizations and Practicum Experiences).
- Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area(s) assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree
Valid Texas Teacher’s certificate - Any Business or Office Education Certificate; Computer Science 6-12;
Technology Education 6-12; and/or 2-3 years required field experience.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to oversee student field experiences in career area assigned
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Computer Programming (JAVA) and/or networking experience preferred
Preferred Experience:
One year student teaching or approval internship
Two to five years of wage-earning experience in the area of certification
Demonstrated use of technology for communication and collaboration
Demonstrated use of interacting in an online learning platform
Demonstrated use of technology to organize and deliver instruction
Demonstrated use of a variety of tools to create lessons that include digital
resources, media, and additional technology-related activities.
EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Work inside may work outside; regular exposure to noise. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards.

SALARY: Based on the 2024-2025 Classroom Teacher Salary Scale
