Nurse Fellow
General Summary:
The Nurse Fellow is an active nursing student accepted to the Nurse Fellowship Program, who is initiating the last semester of the academic nursing program, and who has accepted a Graduate Nurse position at Ballad Health for initiation upon graduation from the nursing program.
The Nurse Fellow will work under the direction of experienced licensed nurses and clinical nursing leadership who have a variety of nursing related expertise and serve as the Nurse Fellow preceptor. The Nurse Fellow will rotate through selected clinical areas as defined by the Nurse Fellow program content, and includes areas desired by the Nurse Fellow to facilitate and assist the student in transition to professional nursing practice. The Nurse Fellow may take and give reports, assess the patient and document patient care provision under the direct supervision of the RN Preceptor. The Nurse Fellow is supervised by an assigned RN preceptor in performing delegated tasks at the discretion of the RN preceptor based on the assessment of the skill and knowledge level of the Nurse Fellow. The RN preceptor must co-sign the Nurse Fellow's activities. Medication administration may be observed, but no medications are to be administered by the Nurse Fellow. The Nurse Fellow can care for patients with varying levels of illness under the direction of an RN.
Education:
Must be a nursing student actively enrolled in an accredited Baccalaureate Science Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program who is initiating the last semester of an academic nursing program with anticipation of graduation at the conclusion of the semester.
Must have a minimum of 2.75 GPA for consideration for this position. Ballad Health team members in good standing without evidence of active written corrective action and with a GPA of 2.5 will be considered for this position.
License/Certifications
AHA BLS is required for direct patient care provider
