Pharmacist
Summary:
The U.S. Navy is seeking skilled pharmacists to join its Healthcare team. As a Navy pharmacist, you will have the opportunity to serve in a dynamic and mission-driven environment, providing world-class pharmaceutical care to Sailors, Marines, and their families. Key Responsibilities:
- Pharmaceutical Care: Dispense medications, counsel patients on proper medication use, and ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals for military personnel.
- Clinical Support: Work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to provide comprehensive care for patients.
- Leadership: Manage pharmacy operations and supervise pharmacy technicians to ensure that medications are prepared and dispensed in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide education on pharmacology, therapeutic protocols, and the use of medications to Sailors, Marines, and fellow healthcare providers.
- Operational Readiness: Participate in military training exercises, deployments, and humanitarian missions, ensuring the Navy’s readiness at home and abroad.
- Medication Management: Oversee medication inventories, control and ensure the proper handling of controlled substances, and ensure compliance with Navy regulations and federal laws.
- Research and Development: Engage in clinical pharmacy research and contribute to advancing military healthcare practices.
Qualifications:
- Degree: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted pharmacy license in the U.S. or the ability to obtain one within a specified period.
- Experience: Previous experience as a pharmacist in clinical or hospital settings is highly desirable, but not required.
- Eligibility: U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency.
- Physical and Medical Fitness: Must meet the physical fitness standards set by the Navy.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to be stationed at various locations, including overseas, and deploy when necessary.
