Computers Teacher
Harvest Preparatory Academy is a public charter school serving PreK-12. HPA is dedicated to providing students a dynamic academic program of student-centered instruction in a college preparatory setting. We are currently accepting applications/resumes for the position of Computers Teacher.
DUTIES:
- Prepare lesson plans and instruct students in accordance with the established curriculum and student needs.
- Assess student performance and provide timely feedback to promote growth in technical and computing skills.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans, including scheduled activities and materials to teach computer literacy, programming, digital citizenship, and other relevant tech skills.
- Modify instruction and use differentiated strategies to meet the needs of each student, ensuring that all students have an opportunity to succeed.
- Plan, organize, and display classroom materials in a way that engages students in technology-related learning activities.
- Implement classroom management techniques to maintain order, student safety, and a productive learning environment.
- Foster a positive learning environment by motivating and encouraging students in their understanding of technology and digital tools.
- Evaluate students' performance regarding their achievements in curriculum and tech-related activities.
- Communicate with parents and students regarding methods of evaluation and progress in computer skills.
- Collaborate with staff members and school leadership to promote integrated technology usage across other subjects and grade levels.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with trends in technology education and instructional methods.
- Attend faculty meetings and contribute to the overall development of the school's academic environment.
- Assist students in the development of essential technology skills, including keyboarding, software use, coding, and digital safety.
- Notify site administrator of the special needs of students and collaborate with other specialists to address individual challenges.
- Supervise students’ behavior in the classroom and on field trips related to technology (if applicable).
- May monitor the activities of teaching assistants and classroom volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of computer programming, digital literacy, and educational technology.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
- At least one year of field experience (student teaching) or approved internship in a technology-related teaching role.
- Previous work (professional) references and three letters of recommendation.
