Internship Details
Savion is seeking a self-starting and highly motivated undergraduate or graduate student to fill a Project Development Management Summer Intern position starting in May 2025 and running to August 2025 with the possibility to extend the duration to December 2025. The candidate will complete a variety of tasks while being trained and mentored by our team of development and project controls experts. This position is open to all qualified individuals who desire to work at Savion’s dynamic development team in our Kansas City office.

Position Responsibilities
The candidate will report to a Development Director who is heavily involved in Savion’s development strategy related to its portfolio of existing and proposed utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. The candidate will assist the development team and other team members in executing their daily activities. This will provide the candidate the opportunity to interact daily with Savion’s numerous subject matter experts in real estate, environmental & permitting, engineering, origination, finance, GIS, procurement, etc. The ideal candidate will also provide ongoing project management support and learn the processes of project development.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the process of siting and site acquisition by working with developers, the Market Strategy & Analysis and Site Selection group to analyze the viability of renewable energy and storage projects including landowner/community research, landowner lease/purchase option negotiations
- Assist in creating and updating project specific Development Trackers
- Conduct land, market, and related project research
- Attend and assist in coordinating project related calls and meetings with the project team and outside parties
- Assist with prepping proposals for RFP submissions
- Assist in the management of a project public relations plan, create project specific stakeholder databases and other outside communications,
- Assist with project budget and cash flow projection, management and tracking
- Assist with the coordination of local, state, and federal permitting processes
Position Requirements:
- At least a junior level undergraduate student in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science, Arts, or Business Degree in Sustainability, Energy Management, Energy Commerce, Economics, Project or Business Management required, preferably with an emphasis in renewable energy.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software -Excel, Word, Power-Point, etc. is required.
- Working knowledge of arcGIS systems and PowerBI is highly preferred.
- Must have good analytical, decision-making, communication, creative problem-solving, and human relations skills.
- Must be organized, self-motivated and capable of working both independently and in group settings.
- Leadership traits are key; must have the drive to learn how to successfully lead cross-functional and dynamic project teams in a matrix organization
Location
Hybrid: Kansas City, Missouri Headquarters with some flexibility for hybrid work.
