Essential Job Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of a full-time salaried employee designated as their sponsor, the student Intern performs work that is intended to provide the needed experience for a career substantially similar to that of the sponsor. This work should provide ample opportunity to learn and should bring value to the company.
The Tax Intern will develop an understanding of accounting systems and procedures for the Tax department. The tasks will be focused on tax compliance, return preparation, tax research, and other project work as needed to support the group.
- Assisting with tax compliance to include return preparation.
- Assist with tax research and data compilation for tax compliance activities.
- Assist the team members with various project work and administrative duties as needed.
- Maintain punctuality arriving to and departing from work, according to the schedule agreed upon with the student intern sponsor for that school term.
- Completing and submitting a timesheet at the end of every workweek.
- Attending meetings alongside department members when requested with external tax consultant and advisors.
- Develop relationships with your sponsor’s peers and manager that can lead to learning opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation Range
$25.00 - 28.00 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance or tax from an accredited university.
- Must demonstrate an interest and a basic knowledge of tax accounting.
- Educational focus in tax and/or prior tax courses previously completed is preferred.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above preferred.
- Previous accounting or business internship, volunteer and/or work experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated individual with a desire to be continually challenged.
- Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment.
- Availability to work business hours, Monday – Friday during summer months.
- Full-time attendance at an accredited college or university, in pursuit of a degree consistent with the student internship role.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to computer screens.
- Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
