POSITION SUMMARY
The Summer Marketing Intern will play a key role in content creation and social media management for West Virginia International Yeager Airport. This internship is designed for a student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, brand storytelling, and audience engagement. The intern will assist in developing compelling content, managing social media platforms, and supporting the marketing team in various promotional efforts.
This internship will run from June 3 – August 9, 2024, with flexible start and end dates available based on academic schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create engaging content for social media, including graphics, videos, and captions, for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter).
- Assist with social media scheduling, monitoring engagement, and responding to audience interactions.
- Capture and edit photos and videos for digital marketing campaigns.
- Write and edit blog posts, newsletters, and other marketing materials.
- Support marketing campaigns and promotions for upcoming events.
- Analyze social media metrics and provide insights for improvement.
- Assist with on-site content creation at events and promotional activities.
- Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all platforms.
- Conduct market research on social media trends and digital engagement strategies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the marketing team.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Proficiency in content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software.
- Basic photography and video editing skills preferred.
- Excellent writing and communication skills with attention to detail and creativity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Interest in aviation, travel, or tourism is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience Requirements: Previous experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation is preferred but not required.
Other Requirements: Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, attending events for content creation, and engaging with the public professionally.
